Bethenny

Just when I think that I have no content for a blog post, I get an email from Bethenny. Yes, I like to pretend it is a personal email.

Amazing

I love that she asks "How did it look?". I think she was wearing full coverage, pink panties. How can you not love this woman?

Hangover Cure

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

I just couldn't help but post this "hangover cure" from Guiliana Rancic's blog Fab Fit Fun because it seems just plain nummy!!
Now, if only I had a blender...

Go ahead guys, add some protein.

Oh, and agave is basically liquid sugar. Your body will need a little sugar to help with the hypoglycemia tomorrow.

Banana Smoothie: Go bananas with an easy shake made of agave, milk, bananas, and a crushed aspirin. Bananas are known to calm an upset stomach and the potassium will help replace what you lost the night before.

Throw the above in a blender with some ice and you are basically drinking a hangover cure milkshake. Anticipate feeling festive tomorrow morning at 9am? Add some green food coloring. Better yet, END YOUR NIGHT WITH IT TONIGHT!

FRIDAY IS PIE DAY!

Happy Friday!

If you were in Alfred, New York, you would buy a homemade pie from Tinkertown Hardware today.

You might even grab yourself a complimentary bag of popcorn from their old fashioned popcorn machine.

UPDATE ON PIE DAY!
My daddy emailed me the below photo shortly after my Pie Day post.
Now you know...

**sigh**

She's Not Perfect Either

My friend Rachel at work (hi, Rachel!!!) made a good point in response to my Tulle Tuesday Post, that it could and SHOULD be re-written in the reverse person.

Here is Rachel's version of the Tulle Tuesday "He's Not Perfect" post.

_________________________________________________________________

She’s not perfect.  You aren’t either.  And the two of you will never be perfect together 100% of the time.  But if she can make you laugh at least once.  Causes you to think twice.  Fills your belly with love.  Keeps your tighty-whiteys bright white.   And if she admits to being human and making mistakes.  Hold on to her and give her the most you can.  She isn’t going to know game stats all the time.  She may want to talk to you all the time and share her thoughts and daily events with you, her best friend.  She may drive you a little crazy.  But she will give you a part of her that she knows you could break.  Don’t hurt her.  Don’t change her.  And don’t expect more than she can give.  Don’t analyze.  Smile when she makes you happy.  Yell when she makes you mad.  And miss her when she’s not there.  Love hard when there is love to be had.  Because perfect girls don’t exist.  But there’s always one girl that is perfect for you.

How come the weather"people" always say it is partly cloudy? What if they said it is mostly sunny instead? Wouldn't that be a more positive spin?

...and then when it is mostly cloudy they could say partly sunny....

Who is with me?

Tulle Tuesday

In lieu of Tulle Tuesday, which has to do with weddings, which has to do with love....I present you with this....

The Painting

Recently, I posted here about a painting that my mother was doing for my Fiance and me of the Turks and Caicos beach (which is where we got engaged).

We gave her this photo to paint:

End result:

This should give you more perspective of the size and placement in our living room. It is 3 feet by 6 feet.

China

I think a lot of people believe that formal "china" is outdated. I personally know a lot of people who didn't bother to register for china simply due to space. Instead, they registered for more functional dinnerware.

To each his own....and I will keep my opinions mum for now...

That said, my family has a LOT of china.
This is my mom's pattern

I never really thought about her china since it sits in the corner cupboard until Christmas time. It didn't really register that I would eventually have to decide if I want formal china.

Today, I came across the following photo from Habitually Chic. It was a party thrown for Celerie Kemble's book Black & White (and a Bit in Between) and I am absolutely LOVING the black and white theme but\
OH MY GOD THAT CHINA!!!! Black and white "toile". I am dying. I need to find it. Now.

Chanel Chair

We are totally overhauling our amenity spaces at work and I had the privilege of assisting in the furniture shopping.

...and I fell in love...

I coined this chair "The Chanel Chair" and the sales-people at Knoll loved it and are apparently using it now.
You don't even want to know how much this chair costs.
We bought 10 of them in eggplant/purple for our "Lounge". They may only end up with 9 of them, though ;-)

An Invisible Wet Suit For Your iPhone

Pure Wow sent me this little tid bit in my email today
Pretty Darn Cool!!!
To buy, click HERE

LiquipelIf you, like us, live in fear of a giant tidal wave knocking your phone into a vat of cranberry juice (or dropping it in the bathtub), we've got good news: You can now get your precious devices coated in a protective layer that thoroughly safeguards them against water damage. We kid you not.
Liquipel, a new company out of Santa Ana, California, has developed an invisible miracle gel--1,000 times thinner than a human hair--that adheres to your iPhone or Android's outside and interior circuit boards to make it virtually impervious to liquids.
While they still advise against toilet dunking, the Liquipel team maintains that your treated electronics will be able to withstand just about anything. We both cringed and guffawed watching this video of a Thunderbolt 4G emerging from a bowl of water unscathed.
To get your smartphone suited up, place your order online ($59) and send your device to the company's headquarters, where it will be coated in a vapor-filled chamber and returned to you one to two days later.
We know it can be hard to be phoneless for even a few hours, but consider the rain-drenched headaches you'll save.

Don't Mind If I Do

Thanks for the tip Emily!

Cake Batter Rice Krispies Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (10 oz.) bag of mini-marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup yellow cake mix (the dry cake mix, not prepared into a batter!)
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 1 (1.75 oz.) container of sprinkles
Method:
Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat and add marshmallows. Stir until they begin to melt, adding in (dry) cake mix one spoonful at a time so its combined. Stir in cereal so it is completely coated with marshmallow mixture. Sprinkle in half of the sprinkles and mix. Press into a baking dish (any size will do) and top with remaining sprinkles. Let sit for about 30 minutes before cutting. I find spraying a knife with nonstick spray helps to cut them.
Ali’s Tip:
I actually increased the cake batter to 1/3 cup for my recipe to give it a little extra cake batter kick (the 1/4 cup seemed just a little too subtle to me), but add as much in as you like!
***Note: Many readers have asked what to do with the remaining cake mix.  If you would like to use it to whip up a batch of cake mix cookies, just measure out 6 oz. of the remaining cake mix, and combine it with 1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil, and 1 egg.  Stir until mixed.  Then form into cookie dough balls, and bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.***

Man Post Monday

Wedding Planning

No, you didn't read that wrong. "Wedding Planning" is on my Man Post Monday. That's because I now know TWO guys personally who are doing the majority of the wedding planning.

One of them happens to be my fiance :-). Are you surprised? You should be. I'm anal. I'm organized.
But I am also scared to plan a wedding.

So, if you are in the wedding planning stage of your relationship, think about asking your fiancee if she wants you to take over, or take over SOME. It's ok to take over the things you like to do....think about these options:

1. MUSIC /BAND - Chances are, your choice is as good as hers AND chances are that you have talked about it before. TAKE THE REINS. She cares more about the centerpieces, trust me. Just don't forget music for the ceremony.

2. RECEPTION FOOD - Food is important, probably to both of you, but if she trusts that you have good taste, why not?

3. CAR SERVICE/TRANSPORTATION - Do you think your bride really wants to talk to Joe from the limousine company? Be firm in your prices...they have plenty of room to work with. But please, don't get your bride a party bus to arrive at the church....

4. SAVE THE DATES - Send em out. You are going to design them together but you can make a trip to the post office and save her the stressful trip. (Happy wife is a happy life)

5. LIQUOR - She only cares that there is liquor, and her favorite kind of course (which you should know). Take it over. You also know what your groomsmen like don't you? Just make sure there is red and white wine for the old heads and the lightweights.

6. HOTEL ROOMS - Call the hotel to block rooms. Block as many as you can. If they can't accommodate everyone that may potentially need a hotel room, block as many as you can and call another hotel to block more rooms. Remember: Some people may be coming in a night or two earlier. Also, they should give you a "group discount" rate. Make sure of this. Also make sure that you know the code the guests should use when booking.

7. REHEARSAL DINNER - You know who is in the wedding right? You know who your parents are right? Now, add them together. Chances are you've talked about where to have a rehearsal dinner. Book it as soon as you can with the estimated number. Once the list is finalized (i.e. who is actually getting a rehearsal dinner invitation), give the venue the exact head-count.

8. FAVORS - Are you giving favors? Decide with your Fiancee but do the ordering for her. Have them shipped somewhere convenient for the wedding. You know....DON'T have them shipped to NYC if you are getting married in Florida and you are flying to the wedding. Find someone to ship them to in Florida. Maybe the venue will let you ship them there.

9. BRUNCH - It isn't a bad idea to eat before your wedding. You may be a little hung over from the rehearsal dinner, or you may just be nervous. Schedule some food to be delivered to your hotel or book a brunch nearby for you and your leading men. Your Fiancee is probably getting ready in a central place, have some food delivered/catered to her. Make it light, she needs to fit into her dress.

You get the point here. Take the reins on things that you can. It will make the process more enjoyable for her.

Personally, I'm in charge of my dress, the invitations and the favors.
BEST. FIANCE. EVER

Did anyone else know that ABC Carpet and Home is ONLINE? I feel very late to the party....and not the fashionable kind.

Although the prices are not in my aspiring to be a college student budget, but I am getting some great inspiration from their website!
